5 jersey number in cricket

The numbers on cricketers’ shirts help identify a player to the officials, commentators, or even the spectators. The numbers on the front of a player’s shirt indicate the chronological position of their appearance for a particular country. Whereas, numbers on the back are typically self-chosen. However, these numbers are not always just useful for commentators or spectators alone. Sometimes, the jersey numbers of cricketers have much larger personal significance.

Aaron James Finch is an Australian international cricketer known as the captain of the Australian cricket team in limited overs cricket. Finch set the record for two of the three highest individual scores in Twenty20 Internationals (T20I), his score of 172 against Zimbabwe in July 2018 beating his previous record of 156 against England in 2013. In July 2018, he became the first player to reach 900 rating points on the official International Cricket Council (ICC) T20I rankings. He made his Test debut for Australia in October 2018. He is also known as a part time commentator with Fox Cricket.

Wriddhiman Saha

Wriddhiman Prasanta Saha is an Indian international cricketer known for playing with Indian national cricket team and first class matches domestically for Bengal, as well as Local Tournaments for the cricket team of Mohun Bagan Athletic Club. He is also the first cricketer to score a century in an Indian Premier League final. He chose to play for Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League. He is a wicket-keeper batsman.

In 2017, Saha became the first Indian wicket-keeper to score centuries in home as well as outside Asia.

Saha made his Test debut in February 2010, as a specialist batsman. When he got a permanent place in the Indian Test XI as a wicket-keeper, there were arguments about his place in the backdrop of him replacing the long-serving MS Dhoni, who had scored nearly 5000 runs in Test cricket at an average nearly 40.

Saha scored his maiden Test century at St. Lucia on the tour of the Caribbean; on that occasion, India, having been put in to bat, was at 126/5. Saha combined with Ashwin, had a long partnership. India went on to win the Test. He has since added more centuries and his batting average has more than doubled. Saha’s second hundred came when India was against Bangladesh.

Saha has played numerous Tests as India’s designated wicket-keeper, and his numbers on the batting front compare favourably to some of India’s previous wicket-keepers. In terms of runs, he’s one of the top scorers along with Farokh Engineer (who also opened the innings), MS Dhoni, Nayan Mongia and Rishabh Pant.

Mohammad Amir

Mohammad Amir is a Pakistani cricketer who played for the Pakistan national cricket team between 2009 and 2020. Amir retired from international cricket in December 2020. However on 14 June 2021, he stated that he is ready to return to the national team.

Amir made his first-class debut in November 2008, and his first One-Day International and Test appearances in July 2009 in Sri Lanka at the age of 17. He played his first international match during the 2009 ICC World Twenty20, where he played in every game, helping the national side win the tournament.

On 29 August 2010, he was arrested for spot-fixing and was given a five-year ban for bowling two deliberate no-balls. Amir pleaded guilty on the verdict handed out by his prosecutor the International Cricket Council, and publicly asked for forgiveness. In November 2011, Amir was convicted at Southwark Crown Court, along with Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif, of conspiracy charges relating to spot-fixing and spent 3 months in prison. He was given a five-year ban which was considered lenient, due to his juvenile age and confession, as compared to the other two conspirators who were given 7 and 10 years’ suspensions, effectively ending their careers.

On 29 January 2015, it was announced that Amir would be allowed an early return to domestic cricket despite his original ban being due to expire on 2 September 2015. Amir signed with Chittagong Vikings to play the BPLT20-2015. He has since returned to play for Pakistan on their tour of New Zealand in 2016.

In August 2018, he was one of thirty-three players to be awarded a central contract for the 2018–19 season by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). On 26 July 2019, he announced his retirement from Test cricket in order to focus on limited overs cricket. On 17 December 2020, he announced his retirement from international cricket.
