He was the most valuable player of the 2019 World Cup in the 2019 Cricket World Cup for his excellent performance with both bat and ball. He ended up as 3rd most run-scorer in the tournament with 606 runs in total. He has received numerous man-of-the-match awards and man-of-the-series awards in all formats. He holds one of the most Player of the tournament awards in all forms. Between 2009 and 2022, he captained the Bangladesh cricket team in 85 matches across all three formats.

Shakib is a genuine all-rounder. He has been a consistent performer for his country over the years. Shakib was ranked No. 1 among the all-rounders by the ICC thanks to his consistency. He is a very controversial figure in Bangladeshi cricket history, always making at the top of the headlines for aggressive behavior inside and outside of the field. Shakib set the record for the most men’s Twenty20 International wickets, at 119 and for the most wickets in T20 World Cups, with 41.
